Sallah Day Tragedy: Rainstorm Renders Scores Homeless

Several persons of Ogele community residents in Asa local government area of Kwara State have been rendered homeless in what could be described as an Eid-el-fitri day tragedy on Sunday after a stormy rainfall in the community where properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.

Some of the community members, who spoke to our Correspondent, said properties destroyed by the strange rainstorm which lasted for about an hour include: residential apartments, public and private schools, electric concrete poles and cables amongst many others.

Some of the victims have appealed to the Kwara State governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to come to their aid as they are now completely helpless.

As a result of the rainstorm, students of both private and public schools in Ogele community may be stranded as schools resume for the next academic term if no assistance is offered on time even as the affected communities have also been thrown into indefinite darkness and businesses crippled.
