Bayelsa State Govt insists on due process for planned Wike rally

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri says his administration is not against any group holding rallies in the state but emphasises that it is unwise and counter-productive at a time lasting peace is being sought to address the political crisis in neighboring Rivers State.

Diri stated this during his administration’s 158th State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Yenagoa.

He emphasised that his administration will always abide by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in respect to the fundamental rights of individuals but will not compromise the prevailing peace and security of the state.

The Governor notes that the proper protocol for such rallies should be followed by first informing the State Government.
