Gender Issues : Governor Otu’s Wife Reaffirms Commitment to Girl Child Empowerment

The wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Eyoanwan Otu, has reaffirmed her commitment to the empowerment of the girl child, as a cornerstone for societal progress.

Speaking at the grand finale of the 2024 Queen of Humanity Pageant in Calabar, Eyoawan Otu emphasized the need to uplift young women as agents of change and pillars of future leadership.

At the heart of the 2024 Queen of Humanity Pageant, was a message of empowerment and inclusion.

Eyoanwan Otu passionately highlighted the transformative role of the girl child in building a just and equitable society.

She described young women as forces of nature, creators of change, and bridges to a future defined by equity, justice, and kindness, adding that investing in the girl child was foundational to building humane and inclusive communities.

In her acceptance speech, 21-year-old graduate of the University of Calabar, Glory Tete, who was crowned Miss Humanity 2024, pledged to use her platform to mentor younger girls and promote core societal values.

Glory Tete received a 5 million naira cash prize and a brand-new SUV, while Deborah Aki, the first runner up was awarded 3 million naira.
