Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has granted clemency to 45 inmates convicted of minor offenses, in line with his administration’s People First agenda.

Exercising his constitutional prerogative of mercy under the Constitution, Governor Otu approved the unconditional pardon as announced by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ededem Ani.

The pardoned individuals were convicted of offenses including stealing, assault, cultism, malicious damage, and illegal logging, among others.

The Governor emphasized that the decision reflected his commitment to decongesting prisons while giving reformed individuals a second chance to reintegrate into society.

This act of clemency underscores the administration’s dedication to justice, rehabilitation, and a more compassionate correctional system.
